The first employee of Idea Bakery during its initial start-up phase working on consultancies and training for Diageo, Reckitt Benckiser, ING, CarrefourSA, Strauss Coffee, Arçelik, Beko, Eczacıbaşı, Yıldız Holding and Pegasus Airlines.
Prior to returning to Idea Bakery, Alara was most recently Chief Strategy & Culture Officer at Pozitif, Turkey’s pioneering leading international arts, culture, media and entertainment company in the Doğuş Group, steering business and digital transformation efforts where she was previously Marketing Director growing Pozitif’s portfolio of music, entertainment brands, and experience platforms *Babylon, Radio Babylon online and FM radio, launching the international destination Cappadox Festival, the bomontiada cultural campus, Alt art space, Kilimanjaro casual fine dining restaurant, Volkswagen Arena multi-purpose venue, partnering with Garanti, Akbank, Efes Pilsen, VW, Red Bull, Vodafone, HTC and more to transform consumers into fan communities. She led the strategy and brand building process for the new generation digital social planning and ticketing platform Mobilet in collaboration with Doğuş Technology, R/GA and Monitise.

Alara is a graduate of Robert College and received her BA in Arts & Sciences with a major in Cognitive Psychology and minor in Visual Studies from Cornell University. She is interested in culture in both of its meanings — Culture shaped by society at large, and the dynamics behind a company’s culture. Most recently she is focused on cyborg anthropology and how technology is affecting our culture, inspired largely by annual trips to SXSW Interactive and occasionally guest lecturing at universities. When she’s not reading up on new case studies or worrying about the health of the world’s oceans, she is working with mixed visual media and trying to learn how to use the lathe from her designer husband in their home workshop.
